We’re excited to start spotlighting the amazing work happening across our network. By sharing members’ achievements, projects and stories, we hope to amplify their impact and rally broader support for independent journalism.

This first roundup pulls together highlights from both December 2025 and January 2026.

The Prisma – special edition on migration

In December, The Prisma released a bilingual (Spanish & English) special edition dedicated to migration. The lead article aggregates links to every piece in the edition, showcasing not only The Prisma’s reporting but also contributions from fellow IMA members.

“It has been a very interesting experience to see the high quality of work being produced on this subject, and at the same time to realise how few independent media outlets are currently covering immigration issues,” says Monica del Pilar Uribe Marín, founder of The Prisma.

Leicester Gazette – Launch of Soar Consultancy

Just before Christmas, the Leicester Gazette launched Soar, its new creative agency and consultancy arm. Soar offers affordable services - including branding, Ghost‑based web design, communications, PR, and community‑organising (crowdfunders, community shares).

Recent clients such as the Public Interest News Foundation, Clydesider, The Ferret, and Naked Politics have already migrated to Ghost with Soar’s help.

Kernow Damo – new Associate Member

In December, the IMA welcomed Kernow Damo as an associate member. Damo runs a popular YouTube channel that delivers cultural critiques of global news and national absurdities, boasting over 175,000 subscribers.

QueerAF – 10,000 newsletter subscribers and four‑year anniversary

On 25 January, QueerAF celebrated its fourth birthday and soon after crossed the 10,000 subscriber milestone for its newsletter. Run by Jamie Wareham, QueerAF is the UK’s sole non‑profit, regulated LGBTQIA+ publisher, supporting emerging and under‑represented creators through award‑winning newsletters, podcasts, and platforms.
