The Independent Media Association has elected its new Board of Directors following a vote by members, with Abla Kandalaft continuing on as Chair.

Adeyinka Akinremi of African Voices Platform joins as Communications Officer, while Debbie and Jason Cridland of the Dorset Eye become Content Creators Officers. The board also includes Thomas Barlow of the Independent Media Association as Policy and Advocacy Officer and Ella Baddeley as the Treasurer, alongside non-portfolio board members John Ranson, Rikki Blue, James Lock, Monica Del Pilar Uribe Marin and Seun Ebenezer.

Nominations were open to anyone employed by an IMA member, whether a publisher or content creator, with members voting online once nominations closed.

The new board will guide the IMA’s work over the coming year, including its campaigning on platform accountability and AI, support for member publishers, growth of the membership and the implementation of the IMA press card and awards. The IMA thanks everyone who stood for election and every member who took part in the vote.
