Monica graduated in journalism at the Xaveriana University and is the founder and director of "The Prisma - The Multicultural Newspaper", a pioneering and unique media project in the UK focused on migrants and refugees. Specialising in human rights, migration, environment and Latin American politics, she has written for several national and international, Spanish and English-speaking magazines and newspapers. Founder of the magazine Prisma, nominated for the National Journalism Award as "Best Contribution to Colombian Journalism" and editor of the newspaper Xarxa Urbana (Spain), in 2013 she organised the national debate "Multiculturalism in the UK: Does it have a future?" in the House of Commons. Her work has been included in the anthology book "Cronistas Bogotanos" (Colombia) and she is author of one book and co-author of 3. A member of the Latin American Campaign for Recognition in the UK and the Coalition of Latin Americans in the UK, she works as a volunteer with ethnic minorities and vulnerable communities, including immigrants.
